Locally owned restaurants in Las Vegas and Henderson

106 restaurants, cafes and dessert stops, every one independent and locally owned.

Every restaurant on this page is independent and locally owned, with no chains and no franchises. There are family dining rooms that have fed Las Vegas for decades, chef-owned restaurants in Chinatown and the Arts District, and neighborhood places in Henderson and Boulder City.

Some have long histories. Chicago Joe’s has served Italian food in a 1933 brick house downtown since 1975, the Perry and Hunt-Bono family has run The Bootlegger Italian Bistro since 1973, and Luv-It Frozen Custard has served custard from its walk-up stand on East Oakey since 1973. Lotus of Siam has cooked Northern Thai food on East Flamingo since 1999, and Lindo Michoacan has brought the flavors of Michoacán to the valley since 1990.

Newer kitchens include Esther’s Kitchen and SoulBelly BBQ on Main Street in the Arts District, Milpa, which grinds Oaxacan heirloom corn into masa every morning, and Partage, a French tasting-menu restaurant in Chinatown. In Henderson there are Todd’s Unique Dining, Gaetano’s Ristorante and Water Street Pizzeria, and Boulder City has The Coffee Cup Cafe and Fox Smokehouse BBQ.

The restaurants are grouped by cuisine below. Each listing shows the restaurant’s phone number and website where it publishes them; check hours and menus with the restaurant before you go.

Which restaurants on this list have been open the longest?

Among the restaurants on this page, The Bootlegger Italian Bistro and Luv-It Frozen Custard date to 1973, Chicago Joe’s to 1975, Ferraro’s Ristorante to 1985 and Lindo Michoacan to 1990.

Where can I find vegan food?

Garden Grill on West Lake Mead is all-vegan, and Black & Blue Diner has a full vegan menu beside the classics.
