Jammyland

Restaurant, Las Vegas

Listed Researched from public sources.

Allan Katz and Danielle Crouch's rum-and-reggae bar in a converted Arts District garage on Main Street: jerk wings, beef patties, tiki classics and live music.

An old garage on Main Street

Jammyland occupies what was a vacant auto garage at 1121 South Main Street in the Las Vegas Arts District. Allan Katz and Danielle Crouch turned it into a cocktail bar and "reggae kitchen," with help from city storefront-improvement matching grants, and opened in early 2018 after close to a decade of planning. The name belongs to Jammyland Records, the East Village reggae shop and rehearsal studio in New York that Katz grew up with. It has indoor and outdoor seating, including a back patio.

Two career bartenders

Katz and Crouch learned the trade under bar figures including Dale DeGroff, Julie Reiner and Las Vegas's Tony Abou-Ganim, working in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas before settling here. The back bar leans hard on rum, and the house is generous with small tasting pours for guests curious about an unfamiliar bottle.

From a recent menu

  • Beef patties, or a Beyond version, in house-made turmeric pastry
  • Jerk wings marinated a full day in a from-scratch jerk paste, then smoked in house
  • Trinidadian mac pie, a Cuban sandwich, chana masala curry, and rice and peas
  • Classic and original rum drinks: a Mai Tai built on aged Jamaican rum, a Missionary's Downfall, a Jungle Bird and a piña colada made with house coconut cream

The kitchen roams what the owners call the rum languages, from Jamaica and Trinidad to Cuba, Guyana, India and Africa. The music follows suit: Katz built the playlist so mento, ska, rocksteady, roots, dub, dancehall, soca and afrobeat never play two of a kind back to back. There's live music (details on Instagram at @jammylandlv), the patio has hosted benefits and free meetings for community groups, and the room gets seasonal takeovers, such as the Black Lagoon Halloween pop-up in fall 2025.

Hours: Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m., until about midnight Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and about 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, with the kitchen open late. Closed Monday and Tuesday, when the space can be booked for private events.
