Chilly Jilly’z Bakery & Cafe

Drive into Boulder City on Boulder City Parkway and Chilly Jilly’z is the first building on the left in Boulder Dam Plaza, and the last one on the right on the way out. Jill Bunch owns the bakery and cafe, which is run by Boulder City residents and celebrated eleven years in business in 2024 with a car show and a brunch.

Baked here, fried to order

Pastries are made in-house every day, and so are the salads and sandwiches. Mornings bring bagels, croissants, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. From there the kitchen moves on to:

• Broaster chicken tenders, marinated, coated and pressure fried, served with sauces or as a crispy chicken sandwich
• Burgers, including an Angus burger and a spicy house-made hot pastrami burger
• Sandwiches such as a fish sandwich and a spicy hot pastrami Reuben
• Salads: Caesar, Cobb, Buffalo chicken, Asian chicken and Caprese
• Sides: fries, tater tots, onion rings, potato salad and coleslaw

The frozen counter

Chilly Jilly’z says it pours the widest range of Dole soft serve flavors in the area, with vanilla, chocolate, orange, raspberry, pineapple, mango and strawberry, many of them free of lactose and gluten. Dole floats, hand-dipped Blue Bell ice cream, chocolate and vanilla frozen custard, thick shakes, smoothies and frappes fill out the case, with cookies and cannoli alongside.

The Patio next door

At 1672 Boulder City Parkway, The Patio at Chilly Jilly’z serves breakfast, brunch and lunch in a temperature-controlled outdoor room with a fire pit at most tables in winter. Chicken fried steak, waffles and eggs Benedict share its menu with the same Broaster tenders, and it hosts private events and weddings. It keeps its own hours and phone line, 702-293-4274.

Cafe hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; closed Tuesday.

Orders can be called in for pickup, with curbside and drive-thru pickup and catering available. The lot has room for boats, trailers and oversized vehicles, handy for anyone towing back from the lake. The cafe’s website says it was voted the number one restaurant in Boulder City in 2023.
