Norm Schilling's desert landscaping company, founded in 2003: design, installation, tree care and maintenance built on Mojave-adapted plants.
Schilling Horticulture Group designs, plants and cares for landscapes built around what actually grows in the Mojave. The company describes its work as equal parts art, science and craftsmanship, and its advice and designs lean on desert-adapted plants and water-wise irrigation.

Clients range from single-family homes to businesses, HOAs and apartment properties across Las Vegas, Henderson, Anthem, Summerlin, Boulder City and North Las Vegas. The Southern Nevada Water Authority's landscaper directory lists the company with service in English and Spanish, and staff belong to groups such as the International Society of Arboriculture and the Master Gardeners.
The horticulturist behind it
Norm Schilling has worked in Southern Nevada's green industry since 1988. He earned a degree in ornamental horticulture from the College of Southern Nevada, supervised horticulture at the UNLV Arboretum and was lead groundskeeper at the Desert Demonstration Gardens for the Las Vegas Valley Water District before starting this company in 2003. He is a charter member of the Southern Nevada Arborist Group and received the water authority's Linn Mills Award in 2010 and the arborist group's Tree Trail Blazer Award in 2014.
Many locals know his voice from Desert Bloom, the gardening program he co-hosts on KNPR 88.9 FM. On a 2024 episode he told listeners that established desert trees such as mesquites and desert willows may need only seven to ten waterings a year. He also teaches workshops around the valley, and in 2023 he opened Mojave Bloom Nursery on Searles Avenue to sell drought-tolerant plants that are hard to find elsewhere.
