Daniel Joseph Chenin, Ltd.: architecture and interiors conceived together for desert settings. Led by Daniel Joseph Chenin.
At Daniel Joseph Chenin, Ltd., a building's exterior, rooms and surrounding landscape belong to the same design conversation. Architect Daniel Joseph Chenin leads the Las Vegas studio, whose work includes private residences, hospitality projects and destination environments.
Designing from the desert
The practice begins with the site. Its published approach considers climate, sunlight, materials and the way people move through a property before separating the work into individual architectural elements. In the Mojave, that means paying attention to solar exposure, water use, thermal mass and materials that can withstand the conditions.
Fort 137 illustrates the breadth of that approach. Wallpaper's coverage identifies Chenin's Las Vegas practice as responsible for architecture, interiors and furniture for the desert residence. The house is presented as a complete environment, with the relationship between enclosed rooms and the surrounding terrain central to the project.
That combination of disciplines is also the organizing idea of the studio itself. Rather than finishing an architectural shell and addressing the interior later, its process develops the spaces and their contents together. Light, the order in which rooms are encountered and a restrained selection of materials are recurring concerns.
A Las Vegas foundation
The firm works beyond Nevada, but identifies Las Vegas as the place where it has deliberately established its practice. Its office is on South Eastern Avenue. The studio's portfolio spans luxury residential and hospitality commissions, while its stated design process applies the lessons of desert conditions to other settings.
Prospective clients can contact the studio directly to discuss a site and project. Chenin's named leadership and the integrated scope of the practice offer a clear starting point for someone seeking architecture and interior design within one studio.
