assemblageSTUDIO

Eric Strain grew up in Las Vegas and graduated from Chaparral High School. As owner and chief architect of assemblageSTUDIO, he has built a practice whose portfolio reaches from individual desert homes to educational, cultural and civic buildings.

UNLV profiled Strain in 2016 when he added teaching to his professional work. In that interview, he discussed the importance of sketching and of buildings responding to their actual surroundings. His concern was with making architecture belong to a place, including the demanding conditions of Southern Nevada.

A portfolio across scales

The studio's current project collection includes Black Mountain Residence, Desert House, Oasis Residence and several other residential commissions. These sit alongside the CCSD Family Support Center, Global Community High School and UNLV Student Services, showing a practice that works beyond private houses.

• Cultural and visitor projects include the Old Mormon Fort Visitors Center and Mesquite Fine Arts Center.
• Hospitality work includes Border Grill.
• The portfolio also lists housing and mixed-use work, including College Villas and theMODERN.

The range is visible in the way the firm presents its work: projects are collected individually, allowing a visitor to move between a residence, a school and a community building rather than viewing one building category alone.

Based on Main Street

assemblageSTUDIO publishes its office at 817 South Main Street, Suite 200, in downtown Las Vegas. Its current website provides a local telephone number, while an independent architecture directory identifies the firm and its professional contact.

Strain's local upbringing and the studio's educational and civic commissions connect the practice to the city in several ways. For someone exploring an architectural project, its public portfolio offers specific examples across residential, institutional and community settings.
