Yarn Refuge

Yarn Refuge is a yarn shop and gathering place on Lakeside Court in Reno. Its website calls it “a welcoming yarn shop and makerspace” and says it offers classes in knitting, crochet, needle felting and spinning, all in small groups for any skill level.

Who runs it

According to the shop’s About page, Terry King is the current owner, having taken over in 2022 from founder Pam Marshall. The page says Terry has knitted and crocheted for more than 50 years and has taught the fiber arts for over 20, including raising and shearing sheep and dyeing fiber. A Reno events and business site lists Terry King as the shop’s general manager and gives the same address and phone number. The site says plans include expansion and a resale program called The Vault at Yarn Refuge.

Classes and walk-in help

The home page lists walk-in help on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 2 p.m., and a Stitch Night every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Classes, a calendar of events and “Make-A-Longs” have their own pages.

What it sells

The shop’s categories include yarn, needles and hooks, bags, notions, stickers, kits, needle felting supplies, buttons, patterns, books and magazines, clothing and locally made items. It also carries Kardi Klips and Lumos Lumos accessories and sells gift cards and club memberships. The shop has a page for the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl, where it lists crawl events.
