Nicole Cochener's Arts District gallery since 2017: mixed-media originals, prints, local artists' work and the first Gallery To Go art vending machine.
Nicole Cochener makes art out of things most people throw away or walk past: newspapers, maps, sheet music, even old violins and mannequins, layered with acrylic paint. She founded Squishy Studio in 2017, three years after settling in Las Vegas, and it has been part of the 18b Arts District ever since. In April 2026 the studio celebrated a grand opening at its current home on South Main Street.
Art at every price
The shop is set up so nobody has to leave empty-handed. At the small end are stickers, magnets, earrings, bracelets, T-shirts and sunglasses. In the middle are prints of original work on archival paper or canvas. At the top are large original pieces by Nicole and by other local artists.
Nicole has shown the work of dozens of Las Vegas artists through monthly featured-artist spots and group shows, and the studio counts more than 100 First Friday festivals in the district.
The art vending machine
Squishy Studio is also home base for Gallery To Go, Nicole's line of art vending machines stocked with small works by local artists. The first one went into service during the COVID shutdown, when galleries were closed and artists needed a way to sell. That original machine now sits inside the studio on Main Street. Others have since been placed at Omega Mart at AREA15, Barter Beer + Mall, Fergusons Downtown and Slonina ARTSpace on Fremont Street, and in 2024 the Review-Journal covered a machine's launch at the Virgin Hotel.
Hours posted in spring 2026: Wednesday to Saturday, 11 AM to 6 PM; Sunday, noon to 4 PM; closed Monday and Tuesday. Visits outside those hours can be requested by appointment. It is worth calling before a trip.
