Stephanie Thomas's West Desert Inn Road pet shop since 1999: hand-scissored dog and cat grooming, 20-plus house-baked treats and ID tags.
The name came from Foxy, a Shiba Inu who was, by her owner's account, quite snooty. That owner, Stephanie Thomas, opened Snooty Pets in January 1999 on West Desert Inn Road, and the shop has spent more than 25 years as three things under one roof: a grooming salon, a pet bakery and a supply store.
The grooming side
The salon grooms dogs of every size and cats with short or long coats. Its groomers specialize in hand scissoring, and a standard groom includes nail clipping and ear cleaning. Extras range from teeth brushing, flea dips and medicated shampoo to nail painting and pet-safe hair dye. A few named add-ons:
- Teacher's Pet: a cage-free but secure spot next to the pet's stylist
- Express: a two-hour service arranged when booking
- De-Shed Program: a de-shedding shampoo and brushing technique meant to cut down on shedding
- Fou Fou and Glamour Girl: nail filing, teeth brushing and a moisturizing treatment, with polish in the second
A breed-by-breed price list is posted on the website. Curbside drop-off is offered at no charge to seniors, busy parents and households with several pets. The shop suggests booking ahead, especially for weekends.
Baked in the back
Snooty Pets makes more than 20 kinds of all-natural treats in its own kitchen, without added preservatives, and most are wheat- and gluten-free. Chicken jerky is the best seller, and customers quoted on the shop's site mention liver brownies, turkey meatballs and turkey burgers. It also bakes dog birthday cakes to order.
On the shelves
Personalized ID tags are the most popular item, followed by purse holders and the same shampoos used in the salon. T-shirts and custom harnesses round out the accessories, and treats and supplies also ship through the online store.
Hours: opens 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday; closed Sunday.
