Most members of the 702 Alliance came to Las Vegas from somewhere else. Dr. Julie Quan did not. She was born here. Raised here. Went to UNLV. Came back after chiropractic school and opened her practice three miles from where she grew up.

Vietnamese Refugees, a UNLV Degree, and a Certification Most Chiropractors Do Not Pursue

Julie’s parents were Vietnamese refugees who arrived in the United States in 1979 and built their life in the Las Vegas Valley. Julie earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from UNLV and went to Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles for her doctorate. Before she graduated, she had already attended more than 20 Gonstead seminars and workshops, become president of the Gonstead Club at the college, and earned her Gonstead Extremity Certification — a specialization that most chiropractors never pursue because of the additional training involved.

The Gonstead System is not the chiropractic most people picture. There are no mechanical tools. No quick-rotation maneuvers. Gonstead is a specific, hands-on technique — manual adjustments, skin-to-skin, only where the analysis shows a problem exists. The analysis uses five criteria: X-ray analysis, static palpation, motion palpation, a heat-differential instrument called the Nervoscope, and visualization. Julie chose it in her first trimester of school and has practiced it for over 15 years.

5980 South Durango Drive, Since 2015

Q Wellness & Family Chiropractic operates at 5980 South Durango Drive in Las Vegas — right at Durango and the 215, on the southwest side of the valley. Julie started in a Chinatown location in 2010 and moved to this space in January 2015 — before IKEA, before the Uncommons, before the Durango resort.

The practice sees patients from newborns to competitive athletes. Dr. Quan’s extremity certification means Q Wellness handles TMJ, shoulder injuries, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, knee problems, and ankle issues — not just neck and back. A significant part of the practice focuses on pregnant patients and pediatric care. Newborns whose deliveries involved forceps, vacuum extraction, or excessive rotation can carry spinal stress that shows up as colic, reflux, or sleep problems. Pregnant patients come in for spinal alignment that can reduce back pain and support immune function through the pregnancy.

Today Q Wellness is a full wellness hub. Patients can see two Gonstead chiropractors, two medical massage therapists specializing in cupping and Tuina, a pelvic floor physical therapist, a fascial stretch therapist, and an esthetician — all under one roof. Julie built the kind of place where someone can take care of their whole body in one building.

Q Wellness carries hundreds of five-star reviews across Google and Yelp. Julie also holds a free health class once a month — open to the community, no appointment, no sales pitch — and mentors local high school and college students considering chiropractic as a career. Several students she has guided have gone on to Life West Chiropractic College.
