Frankie’s Tiki Room: The Only 24-Hour Tiki Bar in the World
P Moss — already known for the Double Down Saloon — bought the long-running dive Frankie’s Bar & Cocktail Lounge (a 1950s-era spot) and reopened it as Frankie’s Tiki Room on December 4, 2008. Moss partnered with Bamboo Ben Bassham, grandson of legendary tiki carver Eli Hedley, on the build-out, layering carved tikis, dim colored lighting, and rotating exotic-cocktail glassware onto every surface of the room. Frankie’s Tiki Room runs 24 hours a day and bills itself as the only continuously-open tiki bar in the world.
The Frankie’s Tiki Room space at 1712 West Charleston Boulevard sits a block off the Las Vegas Strip in a stretch of Charleston that has anchored independent bar and music operations for decades. The 24-hour operation makes Frankie’s a destination for service-industry workers coming off late shifts as much as for tiki collectors and tourists.
Frankie’s Tiki Room in the Las Vegas Valley
The Charleston Boulevard west-of-Strip corridor is one of the city’s most distinctive bar-and-music neighborhoods, and Frankie’s Tiki Room is among its longest-running independent operators since the 2008 conversion. P Moss’s broader portfolio (Double Down Saloon, the Hogs & Heifers Saloon legacy in NYC) gives Frankie’s the kind of operator depth that small independent bars rarely sustain.
