rare coins, currency and numismatic education on South Decatur
Christopher Shands began collecting coins at eleven and was working local coin shows as a teenager. In 2013 he founded Archangel Coins, bringing that interest into a Las Vegas shop for collectors at different stages of the hobby.
A collection with a wide time span
The store at 594 South Decatur Boulevard displays coins from the United States, other countries and ancient empires. Currency and bullion are part of the inventory, along with selected antiques and historical memorabilia. The business lists more than 2,000 coins and related items on display.
Its antique specialties include early militaria, antique silver and vintage photography. That range allows an inquiry to extend beyond a single coin, although the shop's central work remains numismatics and precious metals.
People who collect, too
Shands' own collecting interests include Flowing Hair, Draped Bust and Capped Bust coinage. His biography documents years with the Las Vegas Numismatic Society, including service as a board member and officer. The Review-Journal independently identified him as Archangel's owner in its January 2026 reporting on local metals dealers.
The team also includes his uncle Joseph Cavallaro, whose background combines coins and antiques, and longtime collector Chip Wukitsch. The shop uses authentication and analytical equipment and maintains relationships with professional grading organizations.
Questions are part of the visit
Archangel buys and sells coins, currency and bullion and offers appraisals and evaluations. Its website includes a coin-value guide, a collecting glossary and educational articles about identifying and understanding coins.
Beginners and experienced collectors are both welcomed. A customer can ask about a particular piece, discuss a collection or browse the store's available material. The shop publishes Monday-through-Saturday hours and a direct local phone number for arranging an inquiry.
