Topaz & Weston Instruments: guitar repair and restoration from Teresa Topaz and Ian Weston.
Dry desert air can leave a guitar with a split soundboard, a lifting bridge or a neck that no longer feels right. Those are familiar problems at Topaz & Weston Instruments, the Las Vegas workshop formed when Teresa Topaz and Ian Weston brought their repair backgrounds together.
The business previously operated as Topaz Guitar Repair. Its current website announces the partnership and directs players to the new Topaz & Weston name. Teresa's background combines performing, songwriting and structural restoration; Ian brings instrument-making experience and a background in applied science and Plek support.
At the workbench
The shop offers setups, fret work and structural repairs. Its Plek station measures an instrument's neck under string tension and supports precise fret leveling. Hand work remains part of the process, particularly when the job involves damaged wood, bridges or other structural components.
Setups are adjusted around the player: string choice, playing approach and musical style all matter. The workshop also discusses humidity and storage with customers whose instruments have suffered in the Mojave climate. Its service descriptions cover routine playability work as well as more involved restoration.
Arrange a repair first
Visits are by appointment. The contact page asks for an email describing the instrument's make, model and repair needs. Depending on the current workload, the shop provides a scheduling link or offers a place on its waitlist. Instruments can stay with their owners until a repair slot is available.
Structural work requires an in-person assessment for an accurate estimate. Players should use the current website's repair instructions before visiting; the appointment system and business name have changed from older directory entries.
