Skin Design Tattoo: Robert Pho’s Chinatown Flagship
Robert Pho’s family fled the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and spent eight years rebuilding their lives in France before settling in Southern California. As a teenager, gang violence pulled Pho into a fourteen-year prison sentence; behind bars he taught himself to tattoo, and discovered the craft that would become his life. After his release Pho co-owned Skin Design Tattoo in North Carolina, bought out his partner in 2003, and eventually moved to Las Vegas, where he opened the four-thousand-square-foot Spring Mountain Road flagship in Chinatown in 2014.
Pho is regarded internationally as one of the leading black-and-grey realism tattoo artists working today, and Skin Design Tattoo has expanded from the Las Vegas flagship to eight U.S. studios with international expansion in progress. The Spring Mountain Road location anchors the brand inside Las Vegas Chinatown, with a satellite location inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace serving Strip traffic. The flagship’s Yelp count of 323 reviews and nearly five hundred portfolio photos reflects a decade of sustained client work in a single Chinatown space.
Skin Design Tattoo in the Las Vegas Valley
The Skin Design Tattoo flagship at 3963 Spring Mountain Road sits 1.3 miles off the Las Vegas Strip in the heart of the Chinatown corridor. That location is significant — Chinatown is where serious local tattoo collectors and visiting artists come to work and get worked on, and Skin Design Tattoo’s flagship is one of the anchor studios in that scene. Robert Pho’s personal trajectory and his international standing in black-and-grey realism make Skin Design Tattoo one of the most recognized tattoo brands the Las Vegas Valley has produced.
