Russ Landscape & Design

From a two-person start to a family-run crew

Robert Russ started Russ Landscape & Design in 1995 as a two-person operation. More than thirty years on, the company, incorporated as Russ Landscape & Design, Inc., runs full crews across the Las Vegas Valley, and it has added more of them since a growth period that began around 2012.

It is still a family business. The company’s team page lists Robert as owner, Brandon Russ as the project manager you will usually find running crews on the larger job sites, Brenda Russ on the books, and Karissa Russ handling marketing and the website.

In business since: 1995

What the crews handle

• In-house landscape design, from a curb-appeal refresh to a full new layout
• Installation for new construction and for older yards that need a redo
• Hardscape in brick, tile, natural stone or pavers: patios, walkways, terraces, garden steps, water features and outdoor seating
• Custom stone retaining walls
• Sprinkler and irrigation systems, from a new install to one replaced head, plus drain installation
• Lawn care: sod and re-sod, aeration, fertilizing, mowing and trimming
• Tree pruning, pest and disease treatment, and removal, including emergency tree removal calls

Lawn clients get a full evaluation on the first visit, and the crew checks the lawn’s condition again at every visit after that. Garden design starts with what the space is for, such as vegetables, color or a path out to a gazebo, and then looks at the soil and how much sun the spot actually gets. The company says its landscapers attend training seminars every year.

Homes, apartments and commercial sites

Russ works for individual homeowners and for much larger properties; its website names large corporate properties, shopping malls and apartment communities among the places it has landscaped and maintained. The company also says it won 12 landscape design awards through 2015. Crews cover Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and nearby Southern Nevada communities.
