A shop at mile 10
River Mountain Bike Shop sits at mile marker 10 of the River Mountains Loop Trail, the fully paved, 35-mile ring that links Henderson, Boulder City, Lake Las Vegas and Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The shop is inside Laker Plaza, the boat and RV storage yard on East Lake Mead Parkway.
Darryn Padfield founded it and co-owns it, and he opened it to serve people riding the loop. In 2023 he told Rails to Trails Conservancy that the shop first drew mostly tourists, but that its customers had become an even split of visitors and residents as more locals took to the trail.

Every rental includes a helmet, pedals and bottled water, and staff can show a short demonstration video to anyone new to the bike. Frame sizes run from 50 to 62 centimeters. Road riders are asked to bring their own pedals to speed up the fitting; other rentals come with flat platform pedals. A reservation is final once it is paid in full. In summer the shop offers free early-bird pickup, and anyone booking within 72 hours of pickup should call to make sure staff will be there.
Repairs and storage
The service department works on everything from carbon road bikes to kids' bikes, with tune-ups, full overhauls and assembly of new bikes. The shop also ships and receives bicycles and offers bike storage. Its website keeps guides to trailheads in Henderson, Boulder City and Lake Mead NRA, as well as Clark County Wetlands Park, Bootleg Canyon and the XTERRA and IRONMAN 70.3 races.
