Swanny’s Cycles

Named for the person who keeps riders riding

Swanny’s takes its name from soigneur, the French word for the support person on a pro cycling team, whose whole job is keeping riders on their bikes. Co-owners Zabi Naqshband and Joseph Garey brought about 30 years of combined bike shop experience when they opened the Henderson shop on West Horizon Ridge Parkway on April 1, 2021, after a few weeks of taking in tune-ups by word of mouth. The two had first worked for the same owner at earlier shops in town.

Both still ride hard. Naqshband was born in Las Vegas, grew up in Henderson and gets the most fun out of mountain biking. Garey holds a Category 1 road racing license and runs the floor as general manager and buyer.

In the repair stand

Technicians look the bike over and give a free estimate first. The standard Swanny’s Tune covers a wash, derailleur and brake adjustments, truing both wheels, a bearing check and torquing every fastener; the Team Tune adds frame detailing, a sonic-cleaned drivetrain and CeramicSpeed race wax. Smaller fixes are done one at a time, from flats and tubeless conversions to single-speed and BMX tunes, and there is a chain-waxing service for riders who want it kept up. The crew also builds wheels and does full custom builds.

Fitting and the sales floor

• Professional bike fits by certified fit specialists in two levels; the longer session adds Gebiomized saddle pressure mapping
• Road, triathlon and time-trial, mountain, gravel, electric, commuter and kids’ bikes, with Specialized, Cannondale and Cervélo models in the current lineup
• Components, wheels, tires, shoes, helmets and apparel
• Zero-percent financing over 6, 12 or 24 months

Staff lead a Tuesday group loop, and the shop throws an anniversary party and ride for its customers.
