Reno Fly Shop: fly-fishing gear, instruction and guided trips from Reno.
The Truckee River and Pyramid Lake shape the work at Reno Fly Shop. From its South Arlington Avenue location, Jim Litchfield's business combines a fly-fishing retailer with instruction, rental equipment and guided time on regional waters.
Start with the water
The shop organizes much of its advice and inventory around the places customers fish. Its website covers the Truckee and Little Truckee rivers, Pyramid Lake, nearby reservoirs and other regional fisheries. Current fishing reports and on-the-water videos accompany the retail catalog, connecting equipment choices to conditions outside the store.
Guided options include half-day, full-day and float trips. The business also offers classes and clinics, with staff explicitly welcoming anglers who are new to fly fishing. Customers can ask about instruction or equipment before committing to a particular outing.
Rods, reels and the small essentials
The catalog spans fly rods and reels, lines, leaders, tippet, flies and streamside accessories. Fly-tying supplies have their own section, including hooks, beads, feathers, tools and vises. Pyramid Lake gear is grouped separately, and the store publishes seasonal fly selections for the Truckee.
Litchfield opened the shop at its new location in 2014, according to its staff history. BBB's business record independently connects him and the company to the same Arlington Avenue address. The team includes anglers whose experience ranges from local creeks to larger rivers and lakes.
Trading in unused gear
The Re-Up program lets customers propose rods and reels for store credit. It starts with an email describing the make, model and condition so the shop can discuss an estimate. Accepted credit can be used in person or online. The required advance conversation keeps a trade-in separate from an ordinary purchase or a walk-in repair question.
