Midnight Coffee Roasting puts a café, roastery and event space together in a 3,000-square-foot Midtown Reno location. Its South Virginia Street address gives the family business room for both everyday coffee visits and the concerts and gatherings that appear in its events program.

A father-and-son start

Graeson and Craig began roasting in a Santa Cruz garage. After several years producing coffee behind the scenes, they opened a café in Reno, Craig’s hometown. The company’s own history describes the move as a return to the place where the business belonged, followed by the larger Midtown location.

Graeson Leach has also discussed the realities of running the company in the Reno News & Review, including the rising cost of coffee and the challenge of keeping customer prices approachable. The current business website continues to identify Midnight as family owned.

Body, flavor and a late cup

Midnight describes its roasting direction in specific terms: substantial body, lower acidity and plenty of flavor. The aim is coffee that feels accessible, whether a customer wants a café drink or beans to brew at home. Bags and subscriptions are available through the online shop.

The café publishes morning-to-late-evening hours seven days a week, extending later on Friday and Saturday. That schedule makes the space useful beyond the usual early coffee stop, particularly for people coming to an event or meeting friends after other daytime businesses have closed.

Outside its own room, Midnight works with local cafés, bakeries, maker spaces and event venues. Coffee and music are connected throughout the company’s story, from the founders’ garage beginnings to its current calendar. Customers can check upcoming events separately from the coffee catalog, choosing a visit around a drink, a performance or both.
