Kappa Toys: Lizzy Newsome and Trevor Yopp’s Design-Minded Toy Store
Lizzy Newsome and Trevor Yopp moved from Austin, Texas to open Kappa Toys at Downtown Container Park in 2014 — a design-minded toy store mixing nostalgic classics with carefully-curated oddities sourced from Japan and beyond. Newsome and Yopp have worked in the toy industry together since 2006. They have since closed the original Container Park location, run a Linq Promenade pop-up, expanded into Fashion Show Mall, and opened a glow-in-the-dark “Kappa Toys Glow” location at AREA15 in May 2021 dedicated to illuminated playthings.
Kappa Toys runs an inventory built on Japanese imports, vinyl figures, plush, designer art toys, and the kind of curated retail mix that is unusual in any single-market toy store. The AREA15 location specializes in glow-in-the-dark and illuminated playthings, an aesthetic that aligns with the broader AREA15 immersive-attraction tenant mix.
Kappa Toys in the Las Vegas Valley
Kappa Toys is Las Vegas’s only design-minded independent toy store. The AREA15 flagship at 3215 South Rancho Drive sits inside one of the most distinctive immersive-attraction venues in the Las Vegas Valley, with the Fashion Show Mall location extending Kappa’s reach to Strip retail traffic.
