Hub Coffee Roasters: Reno roasting operation and relationships with coffee farms.
Thirty-Two Cheney is both part of Hub's history and the name behind one of its coffees. Mark Trujillo founded Hub Coffee Roasters with his children Joey and Jessica in 2009, starting in a small garage at 32 Cheney Street in Midtown Reno.
The independent roasting business has since grown into several Reno cafes. Its current locations include Riverside Drive, Meadowcreek on Wedge Parkway and the RED development, with a separate Vassar Street roasting facility that is closed to the public.
Following the coffee back to the farm
Hub's published story names relationships with Colombian farms including Finca Las Nubes, Las Veraneras and Monte Bonito. Single-origin coffees and espresso blends form different parts of the catalog, allowing customers to choose a particular origin or a blend developed for a consistent role in their brewing.
The roasting operation uses San Franciscan and Loring equipment. That production side supplies the cafe experience while also supporting bags of coffee for home use, subscriptions and wholesale customers.
Coffee as a subject to learn
Hub publishes brewing guides and has worked with Truckee Meadows Community College's EPIC program on coffee classes. Its public class announcements distinguish introductory coffee instruction, basic brewing and barista-focused work.
The company also lists catering and event services, along with space rental. These are separate ways to work with Hub beyond stopping at a cafe, whether the need is coffee for a gathering or a setting for an event.
The original garage story remains visible in the Thirty-2-Cheney blend, while the present business connects roasting, farm relationships and neighborhood cafes. Visitors should choose a current cafe location for a drink; the listed roastery is a production address rather than another public coffee counter.
