Fremont Photo Co.

Film still has a working home in downtown Las Vegas. Fremont Photo Co. develops and scans rolls at 623 South Eighth Street, with services for photographers dropping off locally and customers mailing film from elsewhere. Jesse Hudson runs the independent lab and camera shop; the business describes itself as an owner-operated creative space.

Its processing covers 35mm and 120 color-negative film, black-and-white film in both formats, and compatible disposable cameras. Someone unsure about a roll can bring it in or email a photograph for identification before processing. Cinema and slide-film processes are outside the lab's current service list.

From negatives to files

Color processing uses a Noritsu V30, while a Noritsu HS-1800 produces the scans. Customers receive a download link by email. Prints are a separate option: the lab offers familiar sizes such as four-by-six and eight-by-ten alongside custom large-format archival printing, and customers can decide after reviewing their scans.

• Push and pull processing is available for color-negative and black-and-white rolls.
• The requested adjustment needs to be marked when film is submitted, and the custom processing can lengthen turnaround.
• Published timing varies with the queue, so an important deadline is worth discussing directly instead of assuming same-day service.

Cameras and the local film community

The shop sells tested vintage cameras and considers equipment on consignment. It does not currently perform camera repairs in-house. For after-hours drop-offs, a slot at the lab's front door accepts film; the website also identifies other local drop-off points.

Fremont Photo Co.'s account of its beginnings describes hand-developing and individually scanning rolls before investing in commercial equipment. That hands-on start remains part of its identity as both a processing business and a place for local photographers to connect. Jesse's published email handles film questions and camera inquiries.
