Pick a week on The Christmas Goose class calendar and you might find a beginner learning her machine and sewing a pillowcase, a five-week course that ends with a finished lap quilt top, a Laura Heine collage quilt workshop, and an open "UFO" day where quilters bring the unfinished project that has them stuck. Owner Andrea Marquez teaches several of them herself at this traditional quilt shop on South Durango Drive.
From craft fair to fabric store
The Christmas Goose began as a traveling craft show organized by Jeanette Sherrick, held each spring and fall in model homes around the Valley. In 1993 it settled into a gift shop selling collectibles and handmade décor, and fabric slowly took over. In 2005 the shop moved to its current spot and went to quilting full time.
Jeanette's daughter, Andrea Marquez, now owns it. She started working there at 15. Her husband, Jason, later added another longarm machine, a 15-needle embroidery machine and a printer for custom shirts, photos on fabric and quilt labels.
On the shelves
The shop says it carries more Civil War-style fabric and flannel than any other store in the Valley, along with supplies for hand work, wool appliqué and paper piecing. A 2020 shop-hop visit counted more than 2,000 bolts, a deep wool selection, wide backings, kits and Andrea's own patterns.

The shop also runs the Goose Fair, an outdoor sale where sellers rent a space with a six-foot table for quilting and craft supplies, handmade goods and vintage finds.
Hours: Monday to Thursday 10 to 6, Friday and Saturday 10 to 5, Sunday 11 to 3.
