By Your Side Pet Services

Lori Douglas retired from a 28-year government career and went to work doing what she'd been doing for friends on the side: looking after their animals. By Your Side Pet Services, which she founded in 2018, now sends sitters into homes across Summerlin, South Summerlin and the Lakes, Spring Valley and the southeast corner of Centennial Hills. She has lived in the Las Vegas Valley for more than 40 years.

Overnights are the big one

The FAQ calls overnight stays the most popular service. The menu also has daily drop-in visits, dog walks when it is safe, and dog behavior and training with Lori. Drop-ins cover playtime, meals, potty breaks and litter or poop cleanup, and the sitters can give oral medication, eye or ear drops and diabetic shots. There is no boarding facility and no board-and-train program.

Before anyone has keys

Every new client gets a free meet and greet, attended by the sitter who will actually come. Lori would rather you control your keys with a lockbox, and if you hand over keys, one set stays in the office under a code with no name or address. She has trained her sitters herself, or had a trusted colleague do it, in leash skills and basic pet safety. They are background checked, insured, bonded, and trained in pet CPR.

Reports and training

Visits are booked through the Time To Pet app. After each one you get a report card and pictures by email, and many clients also ask for a text when the sitter arrives and leaves.

Lori has more than ten years of dog-training experience and is an AKC Evaluator. She does a free evaluation before any training, and says plainly that if you don't like her style she'll try to point you to someone else.
