Family-run Artistic Iron Works designs, fabricates and installs ornamental ironwork from an Arts District showroom and workshop.
Security doors and garden sculpture come out of the same operation at Artistic Iron Works. The family-run, veteran-owned business combines an ornamental iron showroom with fabrication facilities on West Charleston Boulevard in the Arts District. Its public business record names Thomas Prato as president and David Spruell as general manager.
From an opening to a finished installation
The company designs and fabricates gates, fencing, window guards, doors, railings and stairways. Gate options include single, double and automated configurations. Railings can be made for interior stairs, exterior spaces and balconies, with designs ranging from straight modern lines to hand-worked scroll details.
The workshop lists sixteen welding and fabrication stations, a powder-coating department and CNC plasma cutting. Installation and repair crews are part of the business as well. Those capabilities allow a project to move through design, metal fabrication, finishing and installation within the same company.
A gallery as well as a workshop
The showroom presents ironwork in sample rooms and vignettes across a facility the business describes as 33,000 square feet. Customers can compare styles and finishes in person before choosing an architectural piece or a smaller decorative object.
The decorative inventory includes sculpture, trellises, birdbaths, patio furniture and wall art. Wine storage, fireplace mantels and rock art extend the ironwork into interior rooms. Hardware is another category, including door pulls, handles, knobs and finials that can accompany larger installations.
Custom work is a substantial part of the operation. Customers can bring a design idea to the company rather than choosing only from a fixed product catalog. The business also ships work outside the valley, while its Charleston Boulevard location provides a local place to see examples and discuss fabrication.
