Eight lanes on California Avenue since 1947
Boulder Bowl has been knocking down pins in Boulder City's historic district since 1947. It is a small house, eight lanes in all, with a full bar, a snack counter and a room that still looks like its era. Rachel Pancheri and Dan Combs bought the building and the business in 2021 and run it as a Navy veteran-owned alley.
The owners kept the old character and fixed what needed fixing. The original pinsetters, which dated to the 1960s, were all replaced, and the refresh added new neon out front, custom murals, a jukebox, new carpet, a better sound system for cosmic bowling and refurbished vintage lockers. Local tradespeople did much of that work. The alley also picked up a bighorn sheep mascot named BoBo and a Little Free Library.
Before you go
- Open bowling is first come, first served. Single lanes are not reserved, so call ahead for open bowling times.
- Up to six bowlers share a lane. Manual bumpers are available; ball rollers are not, because they would scratch the vintage approaches.
- Parking is free.
- The snack counter covers hot dogs, nachos with cheese and jalapeños, pretzels, pickles, candy and Slim Jims, plus coffee, Red Bull and soda.
Leagues and parties
League nights run most of the week: co-ed leagues Monday through Wednesday, including 9-pin no-tap nights, a men's league on Thursday evenings, a women's league on Thursday mornings and a youth league for ages 8 to 17 with shoes included. Party packages start at two lanes for ten people and go up to renting all eight lanes for as many as 50 guests. Children 7 and younger need an adult with them, and confetti and glitter stay at home.
