Arario Midtown

Korean Restaurant, Reno

Listed Seat #97 is saved for this business.

TJ and Hani Cho’s Midtown Reno restaurant puts Korean dishes alongside playful cross-cultural combinations.

Kimchee fries and a Seoul cheesesteak

Arario Midtown’s menu moves between familiar Korean dishes and combinations created for its Reno dining room. Owners TJ and Hani Cho run the South Center Street restaurant, where Hani’s work in the kitchen helps shape a menu that is both recognizably Korean and willing to experiment.

Kimchee fries combine bulgogi, cheese sauce, cheddar and Jack with teriyaki and spicy mayo. A Seoul cheesesteak brings beef bulgogi together with peppers, mushrooms, pepper Jack and garlic pesto aioli. Bulgogi also appears in a pasta preparation with garlic, mushrooms and pecorino.

Traditional dishes have a place too

Galbi, bibimbop and tofu stew sit alongside those newer combinations. Japchae uses sweet-potato noodles with onion, bell pepper and mushrooms. Rice bowls give another way to explore the kitchen’s flavors without ordering a succession of small plates.

For sharing, the selection includes pork mandoo dumplings and chicken wings with sweet-spicy Korean or garlic-soy preparations. Braised and fried pork ribs add another option. The restaurant’s published menus separate food and drinks, so a group can look over both before arriving.

Upstairs in Midtown

Arario occupies Suite 200 at 777 South Center Street. It takes reservations and publishes its opening hours and contact information through its own site. The current schedule includes both lunch and dinner service on several days, with Tuesday closed.

The range of dishes reflects the owners’ Korean-fusion approach: a table can order a traditional main course, split a familiar bar-food form made with Korean ingredients, or combine the two. That breadth is the restaurant’s particular contribution to Midtown’s independent dining scene.
