Rey Santos traded casino work for engraving when he bought Abbott Trophies. The family-run shop at Commercial Center now gives him a different kind of daily task: putting a person's achievement into an object they can keep.
A 2025 Commercial Center profile documented Santos' move from casino surveillance and pit work into the business. He had an interest in graphic arts and bought Abbott about two years before that report. The shop itself has a much longer history; its current website dates the business to 1963.
The work is done in the shop
Abbott produces customized awards and engraving at its Las Vegas location. The selection includes sports trophies, academic awards, medals, plaques, crystal and glass pieces, acrylic awards and engraved name tags. It also handles signage for offices, doors and directories.
Materials range from wood and metal to glass and acrylic. Customers can choose a conventional trophy for a league, a plaque for a retirement or a smaller recognition item for a workplace. The business serves schools, companies, community organizations and families.
Recognition that returns year after year
Santos told Commercial Center's reporter about recurring trophies that the shop has engraved over many years. Nameplates, badges and small signs also form part of its work, so its orders extend beyond one-time ceremonies.
The report noted that much of the business arrives by phone or email, even though customers can visit the store. It identified Kiwanis, local government and school-district clients among the people using the shop.
