Vegas Photo Studio is a 3,600-square-foot photography and video studio in Las Vegas, built by photographer Jamie Thomson, that rents its sets by the hour and offers in-house photography.
Jamie Thomson is a commercial and portrait photographer who built a studio so she could “bring artistic visions to life” in Las Vegas’s commercial photography market, her About page says. Vegas Photo Studio is that room: about 3,600 square feet with a white cyclorama, a handful of built sets and two big doors facing west.
The room
The studio describes the floor as unobstructed and “semi truck size” doors that bring in natural light and let crews load props, large sets or a vehicle straight in. The sets on offer are a white infinity cove, a black corner, an LED corner, a blue set with gold frames and a graffiti corner. There is also an eight-by-eight-foot chroma-key green screen and a 12-by-8-foot rolling wall that can be painted for a custom backdrop.
Vegas Photo Studio’s own site says it sits off Valley View Boulevard and Sirius Avenue, close to the Strip. The booking page and the About page give slightly different street addresses, so check the location with the studio before driving over.
Renting or hiring
Two things are for sale here. One is the space: the studio rents hourly to working professionals and student artists. The booking page lists blocks starting at two hours at $100 an hour, longer blocks up to a 15-hour production day, and add-on fees for lighting, a vehicle on set or smoking. Rentals do not include a photographer.
The other is Thomson’s own camera. The same booking page lists a one-hour headshot session and a 90-minute family session, both with the photographer included, and the website says an in-house photographer is available.
Vegas Photo Studio takes bookings through an online scheduler and lists hours of 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily. Deposits are non-refundable, with a 72-hour notice needed to roll one over, and same-day requests need a call or email first. Rates and policies are the studio’s own and can change, so confirm them when you book.
