Toni's Pet & Home Sitters

Toni started at a Henderson veterinary hospital in 2003 and spent four years there. Within a couple of months the hospital staff were referring clients to her for pet sitting, and Toni's Pet & Home Sitters grew by referral from there. Today Toni works with three other sitters, and her site says all of them have had pet CPR and first-aid training.

The business covers Henderson, Green Valley, Anthem, Solera and Madeira Canyon, and the southeast side of Las Vegas. Its site says the sitters are bonded, licensed and insured.

Start with a phone call

The contact page asks you to call before a trip, or as soon as you have one in mind. Toni asks a few questions, recommends the care she thinks you need, and sets up a meet and greet. That visit is where you hand over keys, and she keeps a detailed form on your household's routines. She can also send license, bond and insurance information or local references if you ask.

Pets and what happens on a visit

Besides dogs and cats, the site lists puppies, kittens, birds, ferrets, hamsters, fish, horses and some reptiles, though it says live prey can't be fed to snakes and reptiles. Visits include playtime, brushing if wanted, fresh food and water, clean bowls and walks suited to the animal. Overnight and extended stays are available, as is medication and care after surgery.

The house, too

While she is there, Toni also waters plants, brings in the mail and newspaper, rotates lights and blinds, takes the trash and recycling to and from the curb, and checks for leaks or damage. She may text or leave a note during your trip, and asks you to let her know when you're home safe.
