Kumei Norwood’s Fergusons Downtown shop pairs original apparel and art with workshops and youth-centered community events.
Kumei Norwood started Tofu Tees in 2016 when she was eight years old. Her artwork and concern for social issues became the basis for a business that now has a physical shop at Fergusons Downtown. The name appears on clothing, accessories and a program of community activities.
Norwood’s work extends beyond T-shirt design. Her current biography describes her as an artist and ceramist who organizes workshops, rallies and givebacks. Las Vegas Weekly’s May 2026 profile followed her as she completed high school and considered the next stage of the business.
Wearable artwork and small finds
The online store groups clothing with pins, stickers, handmade items, books, zines and art. One of its signature designs is the Racism Is Trash tee, published as a cotton shirt screen-printed in Las Vegas. The shop’s larger selection gives visitors several ways to engage with Norwood’s visual work, from an item to wear to something for a desk or shelf.
A permanent location followed the early years of the brand; Weekly dates the storefront to 2021. Fergusons places Tofu Tees among other independent retailers and creative businesses on East Fremont Street.
Making room for younger makers
Kid Starter is one example of the store’s community programming. Its published youth-market listing invited entrepreneurs ages three through seventeen to sell items such as jewelry, art and vintage goods at Fergusons. Vendors brought their own booth equipment, making it an opportunity to practice the practical work of running a small business.
Norwood and the shop also appeared on Somebody Feed Phil, bringing a wider audience to a business built locally. Visitors can use the current store site for merchandise and workshop announcements. Individual event listings carry their own dates and requirements, so past markets should not be mistaken for an ongoing weekly schedule.
