Tracy Bosler and the Birth of The Soggy Dog

Tracy Bosler moved from California to the Las Vegas Valley and brought an idea with her: a self-wash dog grooming concept she had seen thriving in San Diego. In December 2005, she opened The Soggy Dog in Henderson as a straightforward self-wash facility — tubs, shampoo, dryers, and a clean space where pet owners could bathe their dogs without destroying their own bathrooms. The concept clicked immediately. Within months, customers were asking for more: premium pet food, treats, toys, collars, leashes, and eventually full-service professional grooming. Bosler listened, expanded, and built The Soggy Dog into a full-spectrum pet destination that serves Henderson families and their animals under one roof.

The shop operates out of Foothills Plaza at 1450 West Horizon Ridge Parkway, a retail corridor that draws steady neighborhood foot traffic in the heart of Henderson’s Green Valley area. The self-wash stations remain the signature offering — customers choose their shampoo, use elevated tubs with professional-grade sprayers, and leave the mess behind. The professional grooming side handles everything from breed-specific cuts to nail trims, ear cleaning, and de-shedding treatments. The retail floor stocks curated pet food brands, supplements, chew toys, beds, carriers, and seasonal gear. The Las Vegas Sun profiled The Soggy Dog on its five-year anniversary in 2011, noting the store’s growth from a single-concept startup into a neighborhood fixture.

The Soggy Dog in the Las Vegas Valley

Henderson has grown from a quiet bedroom community into the second-largest city in Nevada, and the pet economy has grown alongside it. National chains dominate the big-box pet retail space along Eastern Avenue and Stephanie Street, but The Soggy Dog occupies a different niche — a locally owned, owner-operated shop where Tracy Bosler knows her regulars by name and their dogs by breed. That kind of relationship-driven pet care is difficult to replicate at scale, and it is the reason The Soggy Dog has been in continuous operation for two decades in a retail environment that cycles through tenants constantly. For Henderson pet owners who want self-wash convenience, professional grooming, and a supply shop that stocks what local dogs actually need, The Soggy Dog has been the answer since 2006.
