THE MARK a social salon

Two educators, one chair at a time

Shantell Padilla and Alexis Darcey worked side by side for more than a decade before they opened THE MARK in Henderson in 2020. Both came out of stylist education. Shantell spent over 15 years traveling the country teaching haircutting and was director of education at another Las Vegas salon for more than five years. Alexis worked on the recruiting and training side, mentoring newer stylists as they built their skills. Shantell now has about 20 years behind the chair and Alexis about 17, and both still take clients.

The salon started as a two-chair studio, moved to a four-chair space, and is now a 15-chair salon at the southwest corner of Horizon Ridge and Green Valley Parkway, near Target and Sprouts. The owners describe it as a place built on friendship and teaching. Newer stylists work next to people with ten or more years of experience, and the salon offers ongoing education to its team.

Who to book for what

The team page lists each stylist's specialty and years of experience, which makes it easier to match a stylist to the job:

• Cutting and color: haircuts, long-hair cutting, lived-in and dimensional color, grey coverage, and color correction
• Blonding: Alexis's specialty, shared by many of the stylists
• Extensions: several Great Lengths certified stylists
• Reds and vivids: bright and fashion colors
• Bridal styling
• Lash extensions and waxing from dedicated specialists

To book, fill out the request form on the salon's website with the service you want, your preferred stylist, your availability and a note about your current hair. The salon asks for up to 48 hours to reply. Kérastase, R+Co, L'Oréal Professionnel and Davines are among the product lines the salon works with, and its online shop sells take-home products.
