Roots Flowers and Events

Roots Flowers and Events has no retail counter to walk up to. The Henderson studio works out of a warehouse and meets couples at their venues. Its work is flowers for weddings and events around the Las Vegas Valley, plus destination weddings that have taken the team to several states and to Canada.

The designer

Owner and designer Stacey Hellman has worked with flowers since 2000 and holds a bachelor's degree in horticulture from BYU-Idaho. Before starting Roots she designed high-end floral installations for MGM Resorts and Aria, and she has done weddings from coast to coast along with large corporate events and celebrity fundraisers. Stuart Hellman runs operations and logistics.

What the studio makes

• Bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flower crowns and hair flowers
• Aisle decor, altar arrangements, and arch or chuppah florals
• Centerpieces, sweetheart table pieces and cake flowers
• Floral chandeliers, backdrops and flower walls
• Free-standing, ground and hanging installations
• Custom-built ceremony arches, which are also rented out

The look Hellman describes on the site is simple and natural, with plenty of greenery and neutral shades, though she also works in bolder color combinations and likes large, lush bouquets. Every order is designed for the client, not pulled from a set package.

How booking works

Planning starts with a free one-hour phone or video consultation, and the team adds a site visit when it thinks one is needed. A written proposal usually takes about a week, longer in busy seasons, and lists delivery, setup and teardown. A signed contract and a 20 percent non-refundable retainer hold the date. Mockups of a bouquet or centerpiece can be made for an added fee.

April and October are the studio's most popular wedding months, with spring running March to June and fall from September through November.
