Martha Hall’s ceramics studio on South Eastern Avenue, with beginner wheel and hand-building classes, raku workshops, memberships and a clay supply store.
From a back room to 2,300 square feet
Martha Hall grew up in Las Vegas, found ceramics in high school and has worked in clay since 2013. She first taught private lessons in a back room at Bee Creative Ceramics on Eastern Avenue, and just before finishing her UNLV degrees in sculptural practices and art history in 2021, she began building a studio of her own. Oasis Pottery started in about 400 square feet. It now fills 2,300 on South Eastern Avenue, with a separate 2,000-square-foot supply store a few doors down. Hall also teaches high school ceramics full time and belongs to the Nevada Clay Guild.
Where beginners start
Group classes run two hours, cost $60 a person and include clay and firing. They build on one another:
- Intro to Wheel Throwing: centering, opening and shaping, no experience needed. Saturday sessions are Latin Nights, set to a Latin playlist.
- Hand Building: pinching, coiling and slab work for all ages, Friday nights and Saturday afternoons.
- Beginning Wheel Throwing: pulling, trimming, glazing and attachments, after an intro class or two.
- Intermediate Wheel Throwing: project-based demos for people who can already center.
Private lessons for one person, a couple or a small group can be arranged by text or call at least 48 hours ahead. Pieces are ready in three to four weeks, and the studio holds them for 30 days.
Raku, date nights and seasonal projects
Raku firings and visiting-artist workshops come around about once a quarter. The October 2026 lineup adds ceramic lamp making, potion jars on the wheel and an altar-making workshop, and couples can book a monthly date night.
For potters who already throw
Members use the studio from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily: 20 wheels, slab rollers, extruders, a pug mill, dip glazes and electric kilns. Unlimited membership is $150 a month with shelf space and firings, and experienced potters can buy a $20 day pass. The supply store stocks clay, glaze and tools from Aardvark, AMACO, Georgies, Skutt, Speedball and others, and a gallery shows pieces by members and instructors.
