Carissa Beasley's Las Vegas plant shop since 2019: indoor plants, home and office plant care, consultations and ticketed workshops.
Carissa Beasley started LV Plant Collective in 2019, soon after moving to Las Vegas from Maui. She opened her first brick-and-mortar shop in November 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, and has said that watching the small businesses around her push through kept her going too. Her advice for other owners is to remember why you started and to build a strong community around you, rather than chasing every new trend in retail.
Plants, and help keeping them alive
The shop describes itself as a plant store for Las Vegas plant lovers, with indoor plants and the products that go with them: things for the care routine and pieces that make a plant look good in a room. Beyond the shelves, Beasley's team takes plant care on the road.
- Maintenance: weekly or every-other-week visits to offices or homes to water, dust and fertilize plants and replace any that are failing
- Consultation: a home visit to read the light in each room, review your current care habits, simplify the routine and suggest which plants will thrive where
- Design: help planning a space that isn't working yet, built around your own style
Workshops and gatherings
LV Plant Collective also runs ticketed get-togethers, sold through its website. Recent listings include bingo afternoons, one of them held on the patio at Dark Sister, and a paint-and-sip. Tickets are final sale, and some sessions sell out. For friends who live out of town, the shop sells digital gift cards, and a weekly email list gives subscribers restock news and first pick of new arrivals.
Back in 2021, the shop was set up at Fergusons Downtown, a former motel turned into a home for small shops, food and coffee, with the Minimal Market zero-waste refill store as a neighbor. The website doesn't list a current street address, so check the shop's Instagram for where to find it now.
