John and Sue DiBella's West Sahara flower shop, family-run since 1984, with an on-site greenhouse and same-day delivery across the valley.
Walk into DiBella Flowers & Gifts on West Sahara and you find more than a cooler of roses. The shop keeps a greenhouse on the premises for green and blooming plants, and the floor carries silk arrangements, glassware, stuffed animals, fruit and gourmet gift baskets alongside the fresh flowers.
A family shop since 1984
John DiBella was studying horticulture in the Midwest when he took a job at a flower shop and met Sue, who was already working there. They learned the trade side by side, then moved to Las Vegas and opened their own store with money borrowed from relatives and friends. The shop's website dates the family business to 1984.
Their daughter, Amy, grew up doing homework in the back room. Today she and her family help run the store every day, while John and Sue still keep an eye on things. The Review-Journal photographed John making up bouquets for the Valentine's Day rush in 2021. The shop's own story talks about regulars whose anniversary bouquet goes out on the same date every year, and baby arrangements that turn into birthday flowers as the child grows.
What they arrange and deliver
- Birthday, anniversary, get-well, new-baby and thank-you arrangements, plus seasonal collections
- Sympathy work, from standing sprays and wreaths to casket sprays, cremation urn pieces and pet sympathy pieces
- Wedding bouquets, ceremony and reception flowers, corsages, boutonnieres and headpieces
- Arrangements for events and conventions, and floral subscriptions
- Potted plants such as peace lilies, orchids and large indoor trees
Same-day delivery covers Las Vegas, Summerlin, Henderson, North Las Vegas and the rest of the valley, including hospitals, funeral homes, offices and homes. For flowers going out of town, the shop belongs to a national network of florists and can send gifts across the country or abroad.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed Sunday.
