Devon’s Garden is Devon Tilman’s hands-on tutoring and learning center on Colorado Street in Boulder City.
Devon Tilman has taught for decades, and in Boulder City she turned a tutoring habit into a classroom of her own. She told the Boulder City Review in September 2021 that she first tutored friends’ children, then students at a church in town, and when school went online during COVID, she worked with kids at her home in the mornings. When a space came open, she opened Devon’s Garden.
Why “Garden”
“Devon’s Garden is my classroom, but I just love the play on words because I’m a gardener, too,” she told the Review. The University of Nevada, Reno Extension, which lists her as an instructor serving Searchlight and Laughlin, shows a Master Gardener certification she earned in 2010. A December 2025 profile on BoulderCity.com says she was once principal of Grace Christian Academy.
What it offers
BoulderCity.com describes Devon’s Garden as a specialized tutoring service for children who need a hands-on environment, a way of succeeding that classroom learning does not give them. It says the center opened with eight students. The Boulder City chamber’s catalog entry lists:

Rainbow Readers
Rainbow Readers sends young readers to the Boulder City Animal Control Shelter to read aloud to the animals. BoulderCity.com says the practice builds reading and speaking skills, and that it has helped non-readers become readers. The same story says the animals waiting for adoption get time with children, which it says helps them settle.

The Review said classes require reservations by phone. Hours have changed since that 2021 story, so call before going.
