AJ’s Auto Service

Plenty of shops say they know trucks. At AJ's Auto Service, an independent repair shop on Wigwam Parkway in Henderson, the claim rests on the owner's background. John spent 17 years as a Ford dealership technician and left as a Senior Master Technician in both diesel and gas, the highest level of training Ford offered. The shop's own site warns that he can be hard to catch on the phone because he is usually in the back working on vehicles. AJ's has served the valley since 2012.

The crew

Shop manager Mark is the normal point of contact. He spent eight years in wholesale parts at one of the valley's busiest Ford dealers. Technicians Jeff and Chad have close to 40 years of experience between them, and the shop says its mechanics are ASE certified.

Diesel is the specialty

The shop services diesel engines of all sizes, from pickups to fleet trucks, and works through problems such as leaking gaskets, overheating, clogged filtration, fuel system restrictions, dirty injectors, faulty injection timers and hard starts. It describes itself as a Bullet Proof Diesel preferred installer, and customer reviews mention Power Stroke work and FICM replacements.

Everything else under the hood

For domestic and import cars, vans, SUVs and light trucks, the service list includes:

• brakes, suspension, shocks and struts
• air conditioning, radiators, water pumps and cooling systems
• check engine light diagnostics and tune-ups
• transmission, differential, drivetrain and four-wheel-drive service
• timing belts, serpentine belts, oil changes and fluid checks

AJ's is a NAPA AutoCare Center and installs Jasper remanufactured engines and transmissions, which carry a 3-year, 100,000-mile nationwide transferable warranty. Businesses can use its fleet maintenance program for oil, transmission, coolant, brake, power steering and fuel system service on gas and diesel vehicles. Towing is on the service menu too.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed weekends.
