702’s Greatest of All Trades: Justin Suchar Asks, “What Do You Need Done?”

Ask Justin Suchar what he does, and he answers with a question of his own: “What do you need done?” It's the working idea behind 702’s Greatest of All Trades, the Henderson-based handyman business he runs for customers across the Las Vegas Valley.

From a dairy farm to the sign shop

Justin grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania, where he learned how to do a lot of different things. Over the years he found that range was a real help to the people he knew.

His move west came after a change of plans. Two weeks before his wedding back home, the engagement fell apart. He already had tickets to Las Vegas for his bachelor party, so he sold off a lot of his things and came anyway, with two bags of clothes and about $2,500. He decided to stay.

In Las Vegas he worked as a sign service journeyman at YESCO through IBEW Local 357. “Just got tired of working for somebody, so I started my own business, and it just kind of took off,” he told Neon in his 702 Alliance interview. Neon repair, one of the services his business lists, fits that sign-shop background.

A mix of everything

When Justin says everything, he means it. “There has not been one job I have turned down that I couldn't do,” he said.

A few jobs stand out to him:

  • A loft in a customer's RV garage in Cadence. The owner wanted storage, but what Justin built “really was a loft,” basically another room on the house.
  • A water feature he restored, a job he is especially proud of.
  • Regular preventative maintenance for the Gucci stores on the Strip.

What comes next

Justin is looking for a good helper so the business can grow. His goal is to get back to where he was before a serious accident that nearly cost him the business.
