Her Las Vegas business, Wood It Is!, builds individual pieces of solid-wood furniture and cabinetry around the person who will use them. Yocono’s commissions span household furniture, display cases, sculptural objects and prototypes. She describes a practice centered on one-of-a-kind work rather than large production runs. Her published examples include a sassafras guitar cabinet, chairs and lamps with concealed storage, showing how practical requirements can determine a piece’s shape and construction. ## A maker who also teaches Woodworking began for Yocono in her father’s workshop. In an interview with Vegas Inc, she traced her formal introduction to a high-school woodshop class after her family moved from Los Angeles to Ohio. The newspaper identified her as the owner and operator of the Nevada business, in operation since 2009. Her teaching became a substantial part of that work. Las Vegas Weekly reported on both her custom cabinetry studio and woodworking school, including instruction that helped beginners move from learning tools to building their own furniture. That history explains the practical, project-focused detail in her writing about the craft. ## Furniture, repairs and working knowledge Yocono’s more recent workshop notes document repair and restoration work, including a bent-willow rocking chair. Her blog also discusses tools, construction problems and the decisions behind commissions. It gives prospective customers a view of the work beyond a finished photograph. Her current class link directs readers to instruction at Legacy Woodworking. Customers seeking a custom commission from Wood It Is! can contact Yocono directly; class arrangements and locations should be checked through that separate current schedule. ## Contact Wood It Is!
