## A family record store, now in David Rosen’s hands

Wax Trax Records fills a former house on South Decatur Boulevard with vinyl, CDs and music memorabilia. Rich Rosen, a New York native, ran the business for decades and brought it to Las Vegas in the late 1990s. In 2025 his son, David Rosen, took it over.

David has lived in Las Vegas since he was 17 and also writes and records his own music. Since taking charge, he has been reorganizing the shelves and sections so the stock is easier to dig through. One recent project was sorting the 45s, which freed up room for what comes next. [Read David’s story](https://702alliance.com/wax-trax-records-spotlight/).

### What you will find inside

- 45s, including a section of punk singles
- 12-inch records in stacks and on shelves
- A CD section
- A collectors’ wall of records on display

The store’s website describes three floors of music. When the Las Vegas Review-Journal toured the place in 2017, it counted about half a million records, most of them original pressings, plus memorabilia running from sheet music signed by the Jackson Five to Kiss figurines. The same story named Elton John among the store’s biggest customers and described collectors visiting from Argentina and Brazil to buy stacks of albums.

### Buying, selling and asking

Records are not price-tagged ahead of time; with an inventory this size, you ask. Wax Trax still buys collections of albums, CDs and cassettes, and it takes want lists by email through its website.

**Hours:** 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day except Wednesday, when the store is closed (as listed on its website in September 2026).
