Ricardo Torres, known to customers as Rick, spent six years in the United States Marine Corps before he went into floor care. He now owns The Carpet Monkeys, a veteran-owned and family-run cleaning company based in the 89120 area off McLeod Drive, and counts more than 25 years in the cleaning trade.

## A guarantee first

Torres built the company around a promise: he set out to offer what he calls the only guaranteed carpet and floor cleaning service in Las Vegas. Every job carries a 100 percent money-back guarantee, the company says its prices come with no hidden fees, and live operators take the calls to book appointments. The crew’s own motto is that they don’t cut corners, they clean them.

## What the crews clean

- **Carpet:** hot water extraction and shampooing from truck-mounted and portable units, stain and odor treatment, and an optional stain protectant. Drying usually takes 6 to 12 hours.
- **Upholstery:** steam cleaning for sofas, sectionals, armchairs and office furniture. A standard sofa takes one to two hours, plus drying time.
- **Tile and grout:** high-pressure hot water extraction on ceramic, porcelain and natural stone, including bathroom, kitchen and pool tile, with grout sealer as an option.
- **Air ducts:** rotary brushes, vacuums and negative air machines. Most whole-house jobs run two to four hours.
- **Also:** area rugs, odor removal, and water damage and stain removal.

The cleaning solutions are non-toxic, and the company describes them as safe around children and pets.
