## A bookstore working its way back from a fire

On August 18, 2026, an electrical fire swept through a courtyard in the Arts District and badly damaged The Analog Dope Store, the small red shop on the corner of Casino Center Boulevard and Colorado Avenue. No one was hurt, but the storefront cannot open. For now the business sells online and shows up at pop-ups and off-site events while the owners sort out the rebuild.

### The owners

Rachelle and Cierra “Charlie” Luster met as musicians more than a dozen years ago and are now married and in business together. Rachelle, a producer and audio engineer, came up with the Analog Dope name; Charlie is a singer. They opened in May 2022 as a Black-, woman- and LGBTQ-owned bookstore and record shop, with shelves built around Black culture, the African diaspora and people of color.

### What they sell

- Fiction, nonfiction, autobiography, activism, spirituality, business, young adult and children’s books
- Vinyl in jazz, soul, classic rock, hip-hop, R&B and reggae
- Books through Bookshop.org and audiobooks through Libro.fm, with each purchase supporting the store
- Analog Dope T-shirts, tote bags and gift cards

### Readers and events

Before the fire the shop hosted author readings and signings, paint-and-sip nights and Roses, a yearly Black History Month gathering with panels, children’s readings, drumming and dancing. The Dope Lit Book Club still picks one book a month; free members get 10% off each pick, and a paid VIP tier includes the book.

Since August, the Lusters have run an Instagram Live book sale and pop-ups around town, and the events page lists more, including the Las Vegas Book Festival in October 2026. The website also handles bulk and special orders and takes donations toward the recovery.
