Jessica Whittaker's connection to quilting in Boulder City reaches back to her teenage years. The owner of Silver State Stitch Shop learned the craft in the same local building that later became part of her own shop's story, according to its Local Quilt Shop Contest profile.

## A place to make and learn

Silver State Stitch Shop carries quilting fabric, cross-stitch charts, kits and sewing notions. Its current location is on Arizona Street in Boulder City. The business brings those supplies together with classes, clubs and retreats, making instruction and shared making part of the shop's offering.

Quilting and cross-stitch sit side by side in the catalog. A customer can look for fabric for a pieced project, a chart for counted needlework or the smaller tools needed to finish an existing piece. Longarm quilting is another listed service, extending the shop's role beyond selling materials for the top of a quilt.

**Ways to take part:** shop for project supplies, join a scheduled class or club, or ask about longarm work and retreat availability.

### Recognition and local connections

The shop was one of four Creative Hub Award recipients in the 2025 Local Quilt Shop Contest and was recognized as a Nevada regional winner in 2026. The contest's profile describes Whittaker's history with the craft and the business's growth, rather than treating it simply as a fabric retailer.

There is also a practical connection with nearby quilters. The Las Vegas Modern Quilt Guild's charity record reports a July 2026 donation of fifteen quilts to Whittaker's Wrapped in Gratitude effort. That is a specific example of finished work moving from a local group into a community project.

The current shop website is the place to check the class calendar and available supplies. Its combination of retail, instruction and finishing services gives Boulder City makers several reasons to return at different stages of a project.
