A converted garage beside Carson Hot Springs became the home of Shoe Tree Brewing Company. Brothers Jeff and Paul Young opened the brewery in 2017, building on homebrewing they began in 2008. Their connection to Carson City goes further back: the brothers have lived in the area since 1992.

## Small brewery, changing taps

The brewery works from a seven-barrel system, according to Travel Nevada's account of the business. Its beer range includes familiar styles such as pale ales, IPAs, ambers and porters, alongside more experimental and sour offerings. That leaves room for both a familiar pint and a flight that compares several different directions from the same brewery.

Shoe Tree's Carson City taproom is on Old Hot Springs Road, next to the springs and Sassafras restaurant. The neighboring businesses give the site a particular character: a brewery visit can be part of an outing to the hot springs area rather than a stop in a downtown bar district.

### Ways to sample the lineup

- Flights allow several current beers to be tried together.
- Growlers provide a way to take beer away from the taproom.
- The broader selection includes cider and nonalcoholic drinks such as root beer and lemonade.

The patio adds an outdoor option at the Carson location. The business also operates a second taproom in Minden, extending the brothers' locally owned brewery into the Carson Valley without turning it into a franchise operation.

The brewery's own site publishes its locations and current business information, while Carson Hot Springs identifies Shoe Tree as one of its on-site neighbors. Customers planning a visit can check the current tap selection and any events directly with the brewery. The original converted-garage setting remains an important part of how the Young brothers' homebrewing project became a Northern Nevada business.
