Reno Type began in a garage as a typesetting business in 1978. Its work now reaches from printed pieces to mailing logistics, branded merchandise and fulfillment, while remaining under local ownership.

Kurt Hoge bought the company in 2003, becoming its third owner. Northern Nevada Business Weekly documented the company's expansion in March 2025, including the acquisitions of Registered Ink and A. Carlisle after the earlier addition of CDMS.

## The printed piece

The business uses digital and offset printing for materials such as business cards, brochures and direct mail. Finishing services include binding and die cutting, letting a project move beyond a simple stack of printed sheets.

Fine-art reproduction is another part of the work. Reno Type describes giclée printing using materials selected for art reproduction, alongside its commercial printing services. A customer can discuss the image, paper and intended presentation with the shop.

## Getting it into someone's hands

Mailing services connect production with distribution. The company's capabilities include mailing logistics, warehousing and fulfillment, as well as online ordering portals for organizations that repeatedly need printed or branded material.

Promotional products broaden the choices beyond paper. Apparel, mugs and bags are among the categories described, and the business provides help choosing items suited to an organization's purpose. Its team includes a certified advertising specialist.

The company added its first digital press in 1997, a step in the transition from typesetting to its present mix of services. The later acquisitions brought additional local printing and mailing operations into the business.

Reno Type lists its current production location at 1020 South Rock Boulevard, Suite C. A direct work email and local phone number connect customers with the team for specifications, artwork questions, quantities and project timing.
