Worn sofas and chairs are stripped to the bare frame and rebuilt there, and the draperies, valances and bedding it sells are sewn in-house. Customers can take their time with thousands of contemporary and traditional fabric samples, with no pressure to decide on the spot. ### What the shop makes - **Upholstery:** sofas, sectionals, dining chairs, ottomans and antiques, plus custom cushions for patio furniture - **Window treatments:** draperies, swags, cascades and roman shades, with valances and cornice boxes built in its own workroom - **Blinds:** Hunter Douglas, wood and faux wood, and vertical, sheer vertical and panel-track styles - **Bedding:** comforters, duvet covers, shams, dust ruffles, and headboards built to any shape ### A family shop since 1974 Bob and Marlene O’Neill founded Regal in 1974. Their daughter, Heidi Douglas, answered the office phones after school and learned upholstery from her father at 18, just before joining the Marine Corps. She came back around 1986, started over stuffing cushions and worked up to cutting patterns. Around 2015 her parents stepped back and passed the business to Heidi and her husband, John Douglas. She says she personally checks every job before it leaves. The company’s own history names Robert Goulet, Dionne Warwick, Nicolas Cage and Nick Carter among past clients. ### How a job works Quotes are free: send a photo of the piece through the website or by email, then meet a designer in the showroom to choose fabric. Appointments are usually available within a couple of days.
