Lake Mead and Lake Mohave give Las Vegas divers places to keep learning close to home. Las Vegas Scuba Academy builds its instruction around those local waters as well as the skills students want for future travel.

Owner Jason Layne is an Army veteran who became an Open Water Diver in 2011. Rebreathers USA identifies him as the academy's owner and describes his progression into recreational instructor training, technical diving and JJ-CCR rebreather instruction. His work includes exploring submerged sites in Lake Mead.

## Choose a training path

The academy separates its programs into beginner scuba, continuing education, technical diving and professional training. New students can start with open-water certification; certified divers can ask about specialties, rescue training or the next stage toward instructor-level work.

Beginner instruction combines learning about equipment and diving principles with pool practice and open-water sessions. The academy asks prospective students to discuss their schedule, equipment needs and intended course before registering. It also explains referral options for students who hope to complete qualifying dives while traveling.

For local divers, the business offers a continuing point of contact after the first certification. Its inquiry form includes local diving, travel, equipment, veterans programs and private or group training, allowing an experienced diver to ask a different set of questions from a first-time student.

## A Southern Nevada operation

The National Park Service lists Las Vegas Scuba Academy among active scuba charter and instruction providers for Lake Mead National Recreation Area. That listing corroborates its local operation; individual outings and course availability still need to be arranged with the academy. The business publishes a direct telephone number and email for those conversations.
