Marc Colucci spent ten years engineering and building Black Hawk helicopters, and then decided he wanted a different job. In a 2018 interview with the scheduling-software company Time To Pet, he said he chose pet sitting and found that spending his days with dogs and cats beat sitting in meetings. At the time he was two and a half years in and had just hired his first employee. High 5 Pet Care, based in Spring Valley, has been working since about 2015.

## Where and what

High 5 walks dogs and visits pets in Spring Valley, Summerlin and Mountain's Edge. It works with cats and dogs, and also lists birds, fish, reptiles and other exotic pets. A visit can include a walk, letting a pet out, feeding, play and giving medication, and the company also does pooper-scooping and overnight sitting. Visits run from 15 minutes to an hour.

## Small details they've thought about

- Their vehicles carry no advertising, so neighbors aren't tipped off that you're away.
- Clients keep feeding instructions, pet preferences and emergency contacts in an online profile.
- Sitters come with a first-aid kit made for pet-care work.

The state business license appears on the company's listing, and High 5 describes itself as licensed, bonded and insured. A third-party review site lists the business at 5.0 stars and open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., which is worth confirming when you call or text. A free meet and greet comes first, so you and the pet can see if it's a good fit.
